2025 Xiaoman Seasonal Art and Wellness Salon
San Diego Chinese Art & Cultural Society Successfully Concludes Xiaoman Seasonal Art and Wellness Salon
On May 31, 2025, the San Diego Chinese Arts & Cultural Society (SDCACS) hosted the Xiaoman Seasonal Art and Wellness Salon, offering attendees an unforgettable experience blending seasonal traditions, art, and wellness cuisine.
The event began with a special lecture by Professor Zheng Ziting, who introduced the concept of "Micro Landscape" in bonsai artistry. Through a live demonstration, participants had the opportunity to observe and appreciate the intricate beauty of bonsai, experiencing the profound natural essence hidden within these miniature landscapes.
Next, we immersed ourselves in the elegance of traditional Chinese music. Professor Yu Jia performed the guqin piece Drunken Fisherman’s Evening Song and collaborated with Wang Xinyu on Wild Geese Descending on Sandbank, bringing soulful melodies to the audience. Additionally, Wang Xinyu performed Deep in the Bamboo Forest using the unique hulusi, delivering a lively yet ethereal sound that captivated everyone.
To conclude the event, we specially invited Kaichi Kitchen’s Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, Kaichi, to present a carefully curated Xiaoman and Dragon Boat Festival-themed wellness dining experience. Attendees indulged in seasonal delicacies that showcased the harmony between traditional celebrations and nutritional cuisine. Additionally, the event featured a fun voting contest for the “Most Beautiful Scarf”, “Most Creative Scarf”, and the “Best Theme Representation Award”, adding an engaging and interactive element to the gathering.
The event concluded in a warm and joyful atmosphere, filled with enthusiastic participation, shared meals, and meaningful conversations. We extend our sincere gratitude to all the speakers, artists, volunteers, and supportive friends—your involvement and encouragement enable us to continue promoting seasonal traditions and the fusion of art and daily life.
