Our Lantern Festival is coming up on March 7, and everyone is welcome! This is a free community event, so please come celebrate with us and enjoy performances, food, and festive activities at the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum.

✨ Lantern Decorating Opportunity

Interested in painting or decorating your own lantern? We’d love for you to participate!

• Contact us to pick up a blank lantern
• Decorate it at home with your own creative design
• Submit your finished lantern by March 5, or bring it with you on March 7 around 3:00 PM

We’ll display your lanterns at the museum for everyone to admire. After dusk, you can turn on the LED light inside your lantern and walk around to soak in the beautiful festival atmosphere. 🌙🏮

Bridging Cultures: Chinese Heritage in Modern San Diego

The San Diego Chinese Art and Cultural Society (SDCACS) is proud to offer a scholarship opportunity for promising high school students who demonstrate an appreciation for Chinese art and culture and an ability to express this through a creative video medium. The Award Ceremony will be held on March 7th, 2026 at the SDCACS Chinese New Year Event at Balboa Park (TBD).

一場名為「西洋繪畫，從何看？― 從文藝復興到印象派 ｜ 聖地牙哥藝術博物館 vs 國立西洋美術館」的藝術大展，正在位於日本東京的國立西洋美術館進行中（2025年3月11日－6月8日），並即將移師到京都京瓷美術館續展（2025年6月25日－10月13日）。這兩座美術館堪稱日本最為重要的西洋美術館。這場巡迴展覽的特設網站 : https://art.nikkei.com/dokomiru/en/

展覽由美國聖地亞哥藝術博物館與國立西洋美術館共同策劃，精選兩館共計88件藏品，包括鎮館之寶。按照歷史進程，成對或成組展出兩館藏品。透過作品的並呈對話，展現從文藝復興到十九世紀包羅萬象的西洋美術魅力及發展歷程。

張瓊芳老師作為美國聖地亞哥藝術博物館資深導覽，親自參觀這場重要展覽。將為大家解析其精彩內容。

聖地亞哥藝術博物館的歐洲古典繪畫收藏主要成形於二十世紀三〇年代，質量與規模在當時的美國西部首屈一指。收藏包括來自文藝復興初期與西班牙十七世紀的繪畫等眾多傑作，其獨具特色的內容鮮明地反映出聖地亞哥本土的歷史與文化性，以及慈善家們的收藏興趣。而國立西洋美術館則是在松方幸次郎以印象派為中心的收藏基礎於1959年成立，並自二十世紀六〇年代末期開始，系統性地收藏古典繪畫。此後根據歷代館長與研究人員的調查研究，持續進行收藏活動，力求建立囊括西洋美術史主要流派與類型的綜合性收藏。

Multimedia Presentation Competition Rules:
To encourage students to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, promote their creative thinking and expressive abilities, and present their awareness of the theme through a combination of graphic design, text, sound, images, and multimedia presentations. This competition is jointly organized by the San Diego Chinese Academy and the San Diego Chinese Art & Cultural Society.

比賽宗旨:
為鼓勵學生深入了解中華文化，促進學生創作思考與表達能力，以平面設 計、文字、聲音、影像及多媒體結合簡報之方式，呈現對主題的認識。本次比賽由聖地牙哥中華學苑及中華藝術文化學會共同舉辦。
